Quality Engineer

Responsibilities

  • Work with suppliers to ensure quality product is being provided and contract manufacturers to ensure they are following quality standards
  • Address quality issues in assembly & testing on new and existing products
  • Strengthen incoming quality and FAI processes
  • Create, review and revise processes, procedures, and work instructions to achieve efficiency and effectiveness
  • Support manufacturing team in resolving quality issues on the production line & driving continuous improvement projects
  • Create and monitor quality KPIs and identify areas of focus
  • Record and report information relating to supplier performance to stakeholders
  • Audit suppliers and contract manufacturers for adherence to quality systems developed
  • Drive certification and compliance activities for international device certification
  • Provide Design for manufacturing input to Engineering design team based on prototype builds
  • Conduct root cause analysis and create sustainability processes
  • Requires PPAP experience this is essential if they are going to certify the suppliers PPAP reports.
  • There is no detail to any Quality Systems experience required for the job? That is if ASI pursues a quality system standard internally normally a QA engineer should be both technical and systems knowledgeable.
  • Audit experience to which standards, they need this if they are to travel and audit , Say added that
  • Auditing to which standards is required: ISO9001?, ISO14001, ISO18001, TS (automotive)?
  • Perform other duties, as required

Qualifications/Experience

  • Engineering degree in electrical, mechanical, quality, or similar
  • 10+ years experience with quality practices for electronics and motors
  • Strong knowledge of Mechanical and Electrical systems
  • Experience with practical quality control practices and Quality Management Systems
  • Experience in reading engineering documentation, including but not limited to schematics, mechanical engineering drawings, datasheets etc.
  • Experience using electronics measurement tools (multimeter, oscilloscope), hand soldering, crimping and connector assembly, wiring (eg. ethernet, RS485)
  • Familiarity with certification testing processes (FCC, PTCRB, etc)
  • Experience with New Product Introductions, prototyping, product development
  • Application of processes and methodologies such as Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, Design for Manufacturability (DFM), Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP). Gauge Repeatability and Reproducibility (GR&R) studies are considered an asset
  • Capable of prioritize and managing complex workflows/projects
  • Knowledge of IPC-620/610
  • Experience with PCBA testing, handling ESD-sensitive materials is an asset.
  • Experience with Linux or Python, working with point clouds and 3D computer visualization is an asset.
